Divorce-Discography

In 2002 I moved to Athens GA, I didn't really enjoy living in Athens being from the West Coast and all. It was super hot and there really wasn't a whole lot to do in that little town. Luckily I met a nice dude at a tattoo shop that tipped me off to some house shows and other DIY happenings around town. Through him I found out about this little band called Divorce that had house shows quite often with lots of touring bands. I started going over to the Divorce house a lot to see shows and was lucky enough to catch Divorce play numerous times. Divorce tore shit up with dual male vocals, fast as hell drumming, crazy riffs and retarded lyrical content, just an all around crazy ass band with lots of energy. After Divorce split up some of the members went on to form No! and American Cheeseburger and before Divorce some of members were in Goat Shanty which is definitely worth checking out. I may post some Goat Shanty and No! here in the near future.

Divorce put out a demo tape:

a seven inch:

and a discography CD with a live set at the end:

Myspace 2nd song is Divorce.

The Neighbors-Negative Attraction Lp

THE NEIGHBORS are an epileptic thrash seizure on a grand mal scale. They play with the raw intensity and wide eyed fury of the 1982 generation of hardcore/hatecore bands but with the violence and over-the-top extremity of the new millennium. This is one of those albums that as soon as you put it on it starts beating you to a bloody pulp. No reservations. No holds barred. No mercy. No way you should miss picking it up. (In music we trust)

Clorox Girls-Double Mao 7"

Clorox Girls are a three piece pop-punk from Portland. Named after a Redd Kross song, the Clorox Girls play snotty, in your face punk rock. They have put out three LP's (s/t released in 2004 and This Dimension released in 2005) both out on Smartguy Records and J'aime Les Filles on BYO Records in 2007.

There's an excellent cover of "I like drugs" by the Simpletons on this 3 song 7"

American Cheeseburger-Demo 7"

write up:
Hailing from the hot murky South comes Athens, Georgia’s American Cheeseburger. These Southern gentlemen really know how to play fast thrash-y hardcore without the cookie cutter sensibilities that make so much of this style of music saturate used bins. They have been flooring a good portion of the USA from their constant touring and manic live shows for the past couple of years now and show no signs of letting up. They have played alongside bands like Double Negative, Nine Shocks Terror, and Municipal Waste along with some of the bigger fests like Chaos in Tejas. If you like your hardcore fast and chaotic, this tasty gem is for you.)

Speed Freaks

Down the tubes

Late ‘70s sounding four-chord punk rock. This sounds like songs you would find on some early Killed by Death collection that you can’t believe you never heard before because they’re so cool. Melodic with a lot of catchy hooks, but not poppy. There’s solid lyrical subject matter too. Stealing beer, listening to records, shit talking, and watching horror movies. (Razorcake)

Bérurier noir- Macadame Massacre Lp

Crazy Bastards!

Bérurier noir is a French punk band formed in 1983 by Loran (guitar), François (vocals) and Dédé (drum machine). They called themselves "noir" (black) for the color of mourning (because their first concert was planned to be also their last) and for anarchy and "Bérurier" after the character from the novels of Frédéric Dard. Instead of being an end, the success of their first show inspired them to continue. A cult band, Bérurier Noir were loved by a generation of youth and feared by concert organisers for the riots that followed their shows.

Deadly Weapons-Get right in there Lp

Deadly Weapons was a band that contained 2 Bainbridge Island punk rock veterans. Justin MoCheeks of Maurices Little Bastards on drums, and Larry Rickets on guitar. A Canadian named Erin McDermott played bass, and Tina from the Bobbyteens sang vocals and rounded out the lineup. Although they were only together for about 2 years they were quite prolific. They released two 7 inch records, one split 7 inch with the Husbands, and one full length album on Jonny Cat Records. They also managed to tour Mexico City and Japan, playing with such notable bands as Guitarwolf and the 5,6,7,8's. Whatmade this band great was the combination of garage rock and punk rock. Unfortunately that is also what caused them to break up after their Japanese tour. Tina and Erin left to pursue playing garage rock. Larry continues to play punk rock in Jesus Fucking Christ. Justin left to pursue his band, the Clorox Girls.

Anakrid-Father Lp and Rapture of the deep

DESCRIPTION: BlRR Recommended! LP ed. of 350 numbered copies. CD ed. coming 2007 on BlRR. Dusted Magazine "Two new recordings have surfaced this year from Anakrid, the experimental outlet of Chris Bickel (the raconteur behind In/Humanity, one of the greatest groups of hardcore agitators of the ‘90s, and its follow-up, Guyana Punch Line). Here he applies the smashist manifesto against atavistic darkness of the pre-laptop variety, evoking an affected take on Nurse w/ Wound and their contemporaries in the mailorder aether in more than a few ways. This comparison is particularly apt on Father, recorded with what sounds like a home full of disused instruments, second-hand sound sculpture, and the ideas found on countless cassette-only xpr releases of the ‘80s, returning to roost on the mostly empty temple of No Fun style extremity. It’s balanced, rhythmically primal, fairly engaging head music that leverages the occasional reheating of landmark ideas with a refreshing purity of craft wholly missing from the current noise landscape. Fans of This Heat, Test Dept., and early Controlled Bleeding will know what I’m talking about here.

Heartbeatz-Secret Girls 7"

I bought the Contaminators 12" and they were nice enough to toss in the Heartbeatz secret girls 7"

Here's the write up on it:

This is the debut Ep from Bakersfield's HEARTBEATZ. Tons of reverb, paranoia, depression on this fuzzed out Upbeat punk rock 7" ep. Influenced by the Dangerhouse / Masque Era La Punk bands but taking that influence and destroying it with no talent. Next ep will be on Germany’s PTRASH records. Better get this one now. Features 1/2 of the Contaminators. One Time pressing of 475 Copies of black vinyl.

Guilty Razors were a French punk band in the same vein as Hubble Bubble. They released a single three-song 7", which has become incredibly rare (in part because Polydor melted down many copies.) They achieved a degree of posthumous cult status with the inclusion of the Guilty Razors EP on the Killed By Death 77 compilation record.

Guinea Worms-Box of records 7"

A lot more people are going to begin inquiring about this band because b) the Box of Records 7" is the best thing they've done, ever, and will end up being one of the best singles you'll hear all year. "Box of Records", much like "Hello From Ohio" is a Will Foster mission-statement slammed into four minutes of an a-side. You can't say he doesn't make these 7" moments count. It's a Back From the Grave inspired dance/party tune about why records are great; direct and simple. Even better is that it's Lovingly Fucked With by Mike Rep (a long-time Foster friend/collaborator), which makes sense on paper and makes even more sense once you hear the way it sounds, rattling off of stacks of used vinyl. It's been called Foster's "Louie Louie" by Rep himself - a song that surely developed out of nowhere in Will's brain and became that instant hit he'd been looking for. Not that I don't love songs about commercial pastries (see "Zingers"), but "Box of Records" just feels like something that'll last forever. I'm going to say that on top of alla that it's also the greatest rambling ballad to ever come out of Columbus.

Dudes not joking that title track is so damn good!

Ridiculously catch power pop punk featuring two members of The Briefs

Hal Blaine-Psychadelic Percussions

This notorious exploitation psych treasure was made by one of the most legendary session drummer in the music biz, having recorded with everyone from The Beach Boys to Frank Sinatra (the list is endless). Here, he builds endlessly swirling thickets of rhythms, counter-rhythms and melodic percussive detailing on an extraordinary arsenal of noisemakers as well as organs, celestes, clavinets and harpsichords, sometimes abetted by Paul Beaver (of Beaver & Krause) on electronics and Emil Richards on additional percussion. The actual experiential effect of listening to this stuff is anything but faux though, exploitation trappings or not (and the trappings are decidedly thick, with titles like "Love-In", "Trippin' Out", "Wiggy", and "Flower Society" etc), as your equilibrium is assailed by these whirlwinds of acidic motion. Garage Punk Vol-6 (Booze and Surf)

I picked up this little gem while I was in Las Vegas a few months back. My friend and I decided to go record shopping so we found a bunch of record stores in the phone book and checked them out. One of the stores was Wax Trax which is owned and operated by some crazy dude who explains the rules before he lets you in to buy records. He also asks what kind of music you're into to make sure you're not wasting his time looking for popular records or Cd's, as he doesn't sell any Cd's, then he explains that nothing he sells is new and nothing is priced. So basically you walk up to the dude with a pile of records and he tells you some ridiculous price.

Half this record is reverb soaked surf guitar awesomeness and the other half is songs about Booze and other fun things.

The Blinds-On your own 12"

HARDCORE-PUNK. The BLINDS are a 4 piece punk band from Upsalla, Sweden and they are here to kill. Consisting of all 16 to 17 year old members, they have the youthful energy to destroy everything. Think early US punk/hardcore like GERMS, BLACK FLAG, CIRCLE JERKS or REAGAN YOUTH mixed with Japanese hardcore like LIPCREAM. The recording quality is excellent and the guitar sound is perfect, with a lot of fuzz and treble. This is perhaps on of the best LPs in this genre so faar!!

Hidden Charms-The square root of love + Demo

And yet another excellent debut album. This time by the leading german purveyors of modern garage-punk, THE HIDDEN CHARMS. The band that includes DEAN DIRG drummer Boerge has learned their lessons well, sounding like they've found their own little alcove right between the musical trademarks of labels like DIRTNAP, IN THE RED and RIP OFF. Raw, fast and hysteric they bait through the 14 tracks of this album, leaving a trail of pain and destruction behind. In just 15 minutes you'll get an extensive introduction to today's insane world of punk-rock and you even get to know all the cheesy details, those the SPITS, the CLONE DEFECTS and the REAL LOSERS were to scared to tell.

Struggle-One Settler, One Bullet (Discog)

Before The Locust, before The Swing Kids, before Bread and Circuits there was a very young band from San Diego called Struggle. They were an energetic band that played brutal political hardcore that was powered by anger and youthful angst.

The early Struggle sound was heavily influenced by Downcast and Rorschach, and this first release was a powerful explosion of high energy hardcore. Furious and aggressive.
